Dishwashers
Q. Are all Dishwashers the same dimensions?
A. No, Most dishwashers fit in a 24in wide by 34in tall space. Some are 18in wide. There are also dishwashers available that fit into a shorter space if the floors have been raised.
Q. Is there really any difference between a $200 dishwasher and one over $1,000?
A. Yes. For starters a $200 dishwasher does not wash dishes nearly as well as a moderately priced dishwasher. As well as washing better with more spray arms, a higher priced dishwasher is also quieter.

Q. Why are front load washers better?
A. More capacity, higher efficiency, they are gentler on your clothes, and provide for cleaner clothes
Q. Why does my High Efficiency washer keeps pausing during the wash cycle?
A. High efficiency washers require HE detergent. If you use non-HE detergent the washer will over-suds and pause while the suds go down.
Q. My front loader has a musty smell, what can I do?
A. Remember that front load washers are sealed so that water cannot escape. If you do not do frequent loads, a musty smell can develop. If you do not plan on doing laundry for a few days, leave the washer door ajar so that the washer dries out. Many new front loaders have a Clean Washer cycle to freshen the basket.
Q. What can I do to protect my house from a washer leak?
A. The easiest and most cost effective solution is stainless steel braided hoses. Remember that washer hoses have pressure in them at all times, the braided lines will hold up much better then the rubber hoses that come with all washers.
The second thing is a plumbed drain pan. This is a pan that the washer sits in and collects any water that may be leaking. This pan must be plumbed so that the water then drains out of the house.
Dryers
Q. My dryer is not drying clothes anymore, is it time to buy a new one?
A. Maybe. A dryer will not dry if it has a clogged vent. Check to make sure it is clean and try again. If the vent is clean and it is still not drying, it may be time to buy a new one.
