Ranges are another example of an appliance that has more options and upgrades available today.

The first and easiest decision is whether Gas or Electric is needed. There is also the third option of a dual-fuel range, which combines an electric oven with a gas cook surface.

Although freestanding ranges typically have all the controls on the back panel, slide-in ranges are increasing in popularity. Slide-in ranges are similar to freestanding ranges except that the controls are in the front and they have a lip that overhangs the counter to give it a more built-in look.

There are also a number of other features to consider when selecting a range. Some ranges are available with convection. Convection is a feature that circulates warm air around the oven cavity guaranteeing a more even bake and bake up to 25% faster. Different ranges have different burner powers and sizes. Some ranges offer additional features like a warming drawer and sometimes a second oven. Temperature Probes are common in higher end ranges to display the temperature of what is baking.
