Ventilation - Updraft

There are five different styles of updraft ventilation.

In many houses today, ventilation is combined with the microwave called an Over-The-Range Microwave.

The second is a Cabinet Mount. A cabinet mount is about 6 inches tall and mounts to a cabinet that is above the cook surface.

The third option is a Wall Mount. Wall mounted hoods often go all the way to the ceiling and are more decorative than other styles.

Island Mount hoods look very similar to wall mounts, but can be mounted and supported by the ceiling so that they can be hung over an island or peninsula.

The last type of updraft ventilation is a Hood Insert. Inserts are all of the working components of a hood, without a decorative case. In this situation, the visible part of the hood is provided by the designer/cabinet company, and the hood insert is mounted inside of the decorative support.

It is important to note that most updraft solutions have the ability to be recirculated with a kit if venting to the outside is not an option.
