We bought this unit to subsidize our existing ac system for our upstairs. We live in Houston and are currently experiencing 110 degree days and our centralized builder grade unit simply can not keep up. We have two bedrooms upstairs that constantly have 80 degree plus temps in them during the day due to our East/West window configuration. This unit cools both of those rooms and then some. If we close off the two rooms (they are a Jack and Jill combo) from the rest of the upstairs, it can get too chilly!! A win-win for me, since I am a day sleeper. It is a little large so if you are looking for a unit that doesn't take up a lot of space, this isn't for you but if you want to sleep cool, this one is for you! We elevated the unit onto a small night stand to assist for the pan drainage, since we have carpet. We won't be storing this unit for the winter, we will keep it set up because Texas temperatures are too unpredictable. 10/10 definitely recommend!

A surprise

I have a 15x20 Master Bedroom with 12 ft. ceilings. I felt like I needed the larger unit due to the ceiling height and confirmed it was needed. Installing the exhaust hose was fairly easy. My window width was 26" so I didn't have to cut the slider panels. The weather strip provided was adequate. The exhaust hose does get hot so I wrapped a towel around the hose which helped significantly. I expected the unit to be as noisy as the AC in your typical motel room. Yes, it is just as noisy. The self evaporator function when the compressor is ON makes a lot of noise. Mostly chatter and gurgling noises on top of the buzzing and vibrating of the compressor. What quieted my unit down was to take a 5 gal. homedepot bucket and hook up the clear dehumidifier hose to the top drain port and let the evaporator condensation drain into the bucket. The chattering and the gurgling sounds are now gone and the cool air coming out of the vents is less humid. I live in the Southeast and the humidity is off the charts so the bucket can fill up pretty quickly. The self evaporator function can't keep up with high humidity rooms so you are going to have to drain the bottom tray anyway so you might as well just hook up a bucket and let it continuously drain. Draining continuously generates less noise, dryer air and the bucket is easier to empty than draining the bottom tray when it gets full. If the noise level was a bit lower because it is in my bedroom, I would have given the unit a 5-star rating. Other than that, it does what I want it to do.Give me supplemental AC in a room where my central HVAC just can't keep up on the miserably hot days and nights.

We had a Frigidaire portable unit that quit cooling after 2 years and replaced it with a Toshiba, which kept blowing the same circuit breaker the Frigidaire used for 2 years. We returned it and bought another Frigidaire unit. It™™s been in use for less than 4 weeks and quit cooling 3 days ago. I can™™t recommend Frigidaire or Toshiba units.

Hot garage to a cool one!

During the warmer parts of the year in the Sacramento Valley of California, it can get a blistering 90+ degrees inside my 3-car garage. I did quite a bit of woodworking during that time, so I was searching for a miracle that could make the hot air more tolerable. I wanted something I could store away during the half of the year that wouldn't be needed or used in another part of the house. I had tested two other 16000 and 18000 but portable air conditioners. One didn't provide enough airflow while the other seemed to shake. This may have been due to user error; however, I ended up going with the Frigidaire 3-in-1 and could not be any happier. It is able to cool my entire garage down to at least 15-20 degrees ambient with an extra few fans blowing air around the garage.From 92 degrees, it took about an hour to get down to the 70s in the afternoon. I would note that having a partially insulated garage helps significantly.

My 90 year-old mother still lives in the house I grew up in. It is in NYC (Jamaica Queens) and there are no homes in that neighborhood with central a/c. The base meant is usually a sweat box during the summer, but this Frigidaire 14,000 BTU unit was relatively easy to install (it is heavy, however, so ensure you have a dolly). It™™s hot here in Texas and am concerned about loss of cooling from power outages or house a/c failure. Needed something that would run on 110v generator. Fairly easy to set up and move around. Works fine out of the box, but has not yet been fully tested. Disappointed that advertising said 750sf cooling area, but packaging says 450sf. Expect that 10k btu rating should be adequate for 600sf in well insulated home. Am relieved to have it ready to go and hope I never need it. Frankly, it™™s like an insurance policy that I only have to buy once.

I've had the 8000 BTU unit for years, and it does a good job of dehumidifying and cooling. But this 15,000 BTU version just blows the 8000 away. effectively dehumidifies a 1000sf house, and cooling power is very good. Why 4 stars instead of 5? Only because the single-hose exhaust type of portable AC is not as effective as 2-hoe models...but they also have their drawbacks

My 3-ton Central AC broke down in Santa Fe in mid-July at the height of the heatwave. Repair contractors couldn't or wouldn't be able to repair it for four weeks. Bought it for a 500 sq foot room and it does cool it from 77 to 72 degrees but even running all day does not get it cooler. Personally feel it was too expensive for the cooling. And it is louder than other portable ac we have had. Would maybe try something different for a room this size.

Honestly love it! Keeps my room nice and cold. It™™s a plus that I can lock the use of the buttons from my phone so that way my cats don™™t turn off the machine or change settings. It has also been a god send that the app lets you schedule daily timers for the unit to turn on and off automatically. The unit also alerts you when the filters need to be cleaned. Alll in all it™™s awesome I don™™t even have to turn it on! The only thing I™™ve had to do is clean the filters once when it notified me !!!!! SO HAPPY!

The Goodman central air packaged system ceased to operate in mid-July. All contractors quoted $4,000 to $5,000 to repair the unit and they might get around to it in 2 weeks at best. So, figuring the repair estimates were half the cost of a new replacement system, I ordered the Frigidaire 14K BTUH unit from Home Depot to be a stopgap fix and stuck it in the middle room of the living-dining-kitchen area. Running the unit from 9 AM to 9 PM during the hottest part of the day resulted in the main living area of the house being cooled to 76 F with an outdoor temperature in the low to mid 90™™s. I™™ve been able to take my time purchasing a new replacement Carrier system without the pressure of overly hot environment. I™™m impressed with how effective the Frigidaire unit was.

An added benefit is the main unit works far less now and the whole house is running shorter times now. This is a 1875 sq ft home. AC cools fast, maybe a bit overkill for my room, but is very loud when compressor kicks in. Exhaust air leaks from the small spaces in the hose connector. I like that air is pushed out the top of the unit and has a swing function.

This is an excellent AC and the best one of these types I have ever purchased. It really is not portable. It is on the large side and needs to be securely mounted to the window with screws and caulking. If you have to move it, you will need to detach the hose from the unit itself. The only issue I have with is the thermostat. It tends to make the room colder than the setting so you can just make the setting higher than you want the room to become.Mike P.
